W.A. Mozart: Benedictus sit Deus, KV 117

The history of this remarkable offertory has not yet been determined for certain by the scholars. While it is undisputed that it was composed some time between 1768 and 1771, the exact creation date and its purpose are under dispute. While some scholars (Kurthen, Einstein, Tyson) believe this offertory was composed in Salzburg in 1769 together with the Dominicus mass, others (Dieters, Pfannhauser, Federhofer) argue it was written for the dedication of the orphanage in Vienna in 1768.

The offertory is composed as three movements, with the choir performing the first and the final movement, separated by a soprano coloratura aria:

2. "Intribo" for Soprano Solo>
3. "Jubilate" for chorus
